one of the gals

So, we were out in the pasture last night to check the gals and their babies. This poor gal had a cut on her foot so she wasn't feeling up to par. With a little medication and some salve...she is on the road to recovery.

I decided she needed some cheering up...and who wouldn't feel better with a pretty flower tucked behind your ear?

I believe her spirits are lifted already...and she is feeling soooooooo pretty! ;)

I am really trying to get back on my regular posting schedule. I don't want to lose my readers and I am not getting the comments that I used to! Remember to make this farmchick happy and leave me a comment.

Kids love homemade Granola Bars....and so will you!

If your kids like granola bars I think they will love these! There are all kinds of variations of granola bars out there but I think these are my favorite. I like the fact that they use honey instead of corn syrup.

These bars make a great afterschool snack or snack that can be sent to school in a small ziplock bag. For fun you can send them with your kids packaged in cello bag with a cute ribbon..they will love them and so will their friends! {provided they can eat peanut butter~~~}

2 cups rolled oats

3 cups crispy rice ceral

1/2 cup coconut

1/4 firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup honey

3/4 cup peanut butter

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 mini chocolate chips

Combine dry ingredients (except for the chocolate chips). Set aside. In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar and honey. Bring to a boil stirring constant. Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla. Blend until smooth. Pour over the cereal mixture. Coat not add chocolate chips until misture has cooled as they will melt. Pour mixture into an ungreased 9x13 pan. Press firmly until the mixture is really flattened and formed together. When cool cut into small bars.

These granola bars freeze well in individual portions.

That's what's for

Failed again..................

Okay....I promised to show up last Saturday with a new recipe that I wanted to share but things just did not work out right and I did not have the time to take pictures etc.... I guess with so much to do with farming and family....time just keeps getting away from me! Sorry about that....

I really cannot believe that the 4th of July has come and gone already. I would love to put the brakes on summer....slow it down just a bit. I do not want my babies to head back to school and it seems like we are getting closer and closer to that time.
We have been getting lots and lots of rain here. We are in a pattern that if the weatherman says we have only a slight chance of rains! My main garden got flooded out awhile back when we received 4.5 inches of rain in one hour. I have replanted cucumers several times now. I am not going to have as many as normal but we will have enough for eating and canning a few. My flowers are slow to grow to as they have had too much water and not enough sun. They are finally coming around though with a few days last week of good and hot sun.

I am not going to state the day of my next post.....but I am hoping to be back soon. Please leave me comment and let me know how you are your garden is growing..anything that your little hearts desire. :)
