Farmhouse Toffee :)

I was hoping to get a few recipes posted BEFORE Christmas.....I seem to be running out of time. That's the story of my life! :) Here's a quick, easy and delicious candy to make for Christmas.


1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
2 tablespoons water
1 cup almonds or pecans- slivered or chopped
6 oz chocolate chips

Combine all the ingredients in a heavy pan
except for nuts and chocolate chips.
Stirring constantly, cook over medium
heat until candy thermometer reads
300 degrees or until candy is
thick and golden. Spread on
buttered cookie sheet, then sprinkle
with chocolate chips. Spread chips
evenly until melted and top is
completely covered. Sprinkle with
nuts and refrigerate to set. Crack
into pieces before serving.


Now, you can't get much more simple
than that can you? Most people
love this toffee and will ask you for
the recipe! Can somone PLEASE
figure out how to take the calories
out of this yummy candy??? :)

I made the same sthing, only different, last week and it is gone already. Not me, tho! I could not keep the kids giant paws out of it!
(the seafoam I made is hidden in my undies drawer!)

i have made THREE batches of this, and not one came out perfect :-(. They all had a grainy texture, and were not clear. Then I noticed your recipe calls for water and corn syrup, mine did not. I was also told after the fact, that when you begin stirring to incorporate it, dont take the spoon out, lay it down, and continue stirring, because there will be sugar crystals on it that taint the rest of the pot. Grainy texture aside, it still tastes pretty good, but VERY sweet! Merry Christmas, love your blog :-)

Oh, I LOVE toffee! Thanks for the recipe! My Mama used to make it all the time, and peanut brittle too, but I never mastered either of them. Your recipe sounds so much easier! I will definately be trying this out.
