I have been dreading this post but in order to explain my absence I have to tell you what has happened.
My sweet, loyal, loving dog Kricket passed away last Friday. She was 13 years old and we have had her since she was a puppy. She has been my constant companion since the day we brought her home. She loved to lay by the stove as I cooked--she followed me to every room. She was our "first" baby. The next year when we brought our first baby home she was loving and excepting of this little person...she did the same with the second and third baby. She even excepted Sheba - our lab when she came to live with us. She loved us all and we loved her in return. She was always sweet and gentle with the kids. She knew when I was upset and would be sure to let me know that she loved me by cuddling up to me.
My dear farmer built a box and my mother-in-law padded it and lined it with a soft material and also made a pillow for Kricket to rest her sweet head on. My farmer is thawing the ground so that we can bury my sweet puppy in our yard. I will be planting something there in memory of her.
For those of you who love animals you know how difficult this is...and what a huge hole this has left in my heart and my life. I know that Kricket knows how much we loved her...she lived a great life and wasn't sick. She went to sleep a very loved and happy dog. I miss her every minute.
A friend sent me a card and it had a couple of quotes written on it that I wanted to share with you.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world is his dog.

No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.

Moving on to a less painful subject.....For some reason a lot of people could not post on my last entry. So I did have people contacting me through my website. I have had a lot of requests for that recipe which I was planning on posting anyway. I will do that in a day or two so be sure to check back if you were one of those people requesting the recipe!

Have a great day and remember to leave me a comment so that I know you stopped in to visit.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kricket. A memory garden is such a beautiful way to honor her.
ReplyDeleteOh Tania! I'm so sorry about Kricket! I know your pain all too well, as we have lost pets over the years. Nothing can replace them!
ReplyDeleteI know this hurt will alst a long time. How are your kids doing? Bless your hearts, I know how hard it is for us, so just imagine how the kids feel. :(
My heart breaks for all of you. I'm sending y'all a special prayer of comfort and peace.
I am so so sorry.. I have been there and the pain is awful.
ReplyDelete((BIG HUG)))
I feel so bad...what a loving dog she was...I dread the day with Buster. That was one of the reasons I didn't want another dog but love won out:) How sweet of your DH and MIL to make such a nice bed for her.
ReplyDeleteRondell
I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear friend. (((HUGS))) May God's love comfort and sustain you in our grief!
ReplyDeleteIn His Grip,
Carrie
I'm so sorry. I know that pain all too well, also. She will always be there with you in spirit and in the memories you have of her. I love the idea of the Rainbow Bridge, where we will meet up with them once again...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss; I can feel it in my heart. I too have the great loves of my life that I worry will leave me someday. I only hope that they know that they are as loved as your baby was. She had to know she was your baby. I love the quotes you shared. It is true that the one unconditional love in this world is from a dog. Love from all the barkers and from me too! Merrie
ReplyDeleteMy heart hurts for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI knew before I clicked on this by the title what this was going to be about..the loss of a beloved pet. I could not help but tear up over your post...I am so tender hearted with dogs, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a pet...or more like a family member. I will keep you in my thoughts today.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss!
ReplyDelete"I STOOD BESIDE YOUR BED LAST NIGHT"
--Author unknown
I stood beside your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you so softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
And say "Goodnight, Gods bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
When you cross the Rainbow Bridge,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
So sorry to hear about your loss.
ReplyDeleteI know how are it is to lose a pet as they are part of the family.
God will help you and your family.
God bless
What a sweet picture of Kricket. I hope your days will get easier. This is a nice tribute.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Kricket! I know how you feel. I wish for you much comfort as you adjust without your precious canine friend.
ReplyDeleteThat poem above is beautiful!
Dear farmchick, I am fairly new to your site and so very very sorry for your loss of your precious companion, sounds like she was a wonderful member of your family. I know there is nothing I can say to you to ease your pain, I have been there myself and with each one it never gets any easier. Just maybe though, you can find some comfort in the fact that you know she had the very best life she possibly could have thanks to you and your love for her. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your dog, Kricket. We have a 13 yr. old dog named Blondie. She is definitely part of the family. She is the only other "girl" besides me, so we stick together! :o)
ReplyDeleteI have experienced the death of a pet before, and it is so difficult. You are right...only those who have pets can truly understand what you are going through.
Lifting you and your family in prayer..
Dear Farm doll,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear of your sweet little doggie girl. I know how hard this is, you are such a sweet caring person---may memories of Kricket keep you smiling :) xo
I am in tears as I write this. So sorry for your loss. Be comforted in knowing she is now in Heaven and God is patting her head and saying, 'Good girl, you are such a good girl.' You will see her again, I'm sure of it. God bless you all and I'll say a prayer to help ease your hearts. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI am so truly sorry for the loss of your beloved pet, honey. It was hard for me when our pet died and he was actually hubby's dog. Never again could I have a pet put down. Toooo hard for me. Best wishes, lovey.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Connie
I am so sorry for the loss of your Kricket. One year ago today, at 6:20 pm my kitty Sushi passed away. I have saved many, lost many, and it never gets easier. Even at work, i cry at every euthanasia we must perform, sometimes i think im worse than the owners...Im sure burying Kricket in the yard and planting a memorial will be comforting to you in years to come...again, im so sorry for your loss
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much it hurt to read this. It really tears me up. How wonderful of a life she had with her human family. Pets are awesome. It's so cool that you got to raise your kids with her. One of my favorite things I have read about dogs went something like this: when you walk into the room your dog is very happy to see you. When you leave the room for five minutes and return, your dog is still happy to see you. Loyalty, that's the best things about dogs...
ReplyDeleteYour post brought tears to my eyes. Dogs are so faithful and such a joy. I am sorry for your grief. I also had a pang of fear as our much loved border collie is 12 years old.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry...dogs are such a part of the family. We lost a dog two years ago. We, too, buried her in the yard and made a flower garden over her. It is a sweet reminder of her, and was a great way for our family to heal. Hugs and blessings to you and your family. I'm sure it has been hard on your kids as well. Take care...Julie
ReplyDeleteTania, I tried to leave a comment earlier today, but got some strange error message. I'm so sorry to hear about Kricket. Our hearts never stop hurting for the furry friends we lose; but, our many happy memories help us through the sad times.
ReplyDeleteI found this poem...hope it helps. I just love it.
My best friend closed her eyes last night, As her head lay in my hand. The doctor said she was in pain, And it was hard for her to stand. The thoughts that scurried through my head, As I cradled her in my arms, Were of her younger years, And, oh her many charms. Today there was no gentle nudge, With an intense "I love you" gaze. Only a heart that's filled with tears, Remembering our joy-filled days. But an Angel just appeared to me, And said, "You should cry no more, God also loves our canine friends, He's installed a doggy door!" -Author Unknown
God bless you!
I'm shedding tears for you....I so know your pain. We just have to keep thinking of the joys they brought while they were here!!!

Oh how sad, I have tears! My family has been through this twice this past year. It is SO hard. The one thing interesting about the fact that I do not have a pet right now (except for a horse) is that I am not getting attached to it....because oh boy, I get SO attached!
ReplyDeleteKricket was lovely and it will take some time to heal your heart. Give yourself that time! Warm thoughts and blessings sent your way.....
I'm sorry. Sending you lots of hugs.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your baby. I found your blog through Kendra's and I noticed we have something in common. My family and I lost our baby on Tuesday morning. We have already gotten a new baby (not to replace, but to help with the sadness) Our new baby has helped alot. Im sorry for the pain you are feeling, but know that you are not alone.

ReplyDeleteI am a new reader and HUGE animal lover - and I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
ReplyDeleteHere's another quote:
"If I have any beliefs about immortality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very, very few persons."
James Thurber
I'm sorry about Kricket, that's really sad. :(
ReplyDeleteThere is something amazing that happens when we bond with a pet. What a wonderful life you've had with your, Kricket!
